TV Musings: ‘Survivor’: One World | ‘Two Tribes. One Camp. No Rules’
Really thought this week got off to a strong start, but it could have been even better. One lone event, the guys stealing the axe from the women during the initial dropoff, has established a tone where both tribes are extremely antagonistic. I wonder how long it takes them to realize that they'll survive much better as a unit....Not to mention, it'll be much more exciting if they start making alliances outside of their Men vs. Women teams. That's what I expected and it didn't quite deliver.
Still don't know many names yet, but Colton stood out as a villain...I have to think that with what little effort he made to get to know his male tribemates, he'll be a early target. The girl that caught the chickens is an early favorite for me, mainly because it seemed as if all the guys are going to come off as chauvinistic jerks for this initial run. Survivor: Amazon is still the king of the Men vs. Women split..we'll see if this one lives up to that precedent.
Look for a more formal write-up next week, when I actually remember some names....Stoked for lots of great programming this Sunday!
Trailer Musings: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
For a movie coming out this summer, I'm surprised it's taken this long to even get a teaser trailer. With one of the most far out concepts I can think of, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a very sneaky entry into this summer's blockbuster lineup. Head after the jump to take a look...
TV Musings: Monday Night Lineup (2/13/2012)
Didn't get a post up for yesterday, but it was a great start to the upcoming TV week with The Walking Dead, Once Upon A Time, and Comic Book Men all delivering quality episodes. Let's see if it continues tonight, shall we. Here's what's in store:
Castle-'Pandora' (ABC, 9pm) | The annual 2-parter is here! This time they're going CIA and bringing in one of Rick's former "muses" (they'll have a history, no doubt)...Hoping they can maintain the intensity over the second half next week too...Last year it seems to have a great cliffhanger and then fizzle in the second hour.
Alcatraz-'Paxton Patty' (FOX, 8pm) | An inmate returns and will be placing bombs around San Francisco...Very vague plot details, but the preview last week did seem pretty intense. Hoping for some sort of bigger reveal now that we're in sweeps. I'm pretty sure this is the halfway point for the season tonight (or at least very close to it).
Smash-'The Callback' (NBC, 9pm) | This'll be the first time I've watched this since previewing the pilot a few weeks ago. I'm keeping my bar low because I wasn't wowed by the pilot. Not to say it wasn't good, I'm just not sure they can maintain this for a long run. Tonight's episode will continue to follow Ivy and Karen as they try to secure their role in "Marilyn", along with side plotlines dealing with Julia's adoption and Eileen's divorce.
Tee Musings: Busted Tees Designs
On a somewhat random note, I just jumped over toand found that they're having a massive one-week sale...Every shirt is on sale for $12.99 or less...Here's a few awesome designs that I'm seriously considering picking up.
This place is genius....Let's see how long I can hold off. Jurassic Park and Back to the Future are especially dangerous.....
Weekend Musings: February 10th-12th
As you enjoy your weekend, here's some of the highlights I've found around the web today:
-Lots of celebrity auctions on eBay...Not much in my price range, but still fun to look..Hey, it's for charity!
-Toy Fair starts in New York tomorrow...should get some reveals for some awesome summer movie tie-ins. Going to try to avoid spoilers!
-Rob Gronkowski had ankle surgery yesterday....Gronk will return better, faster & stronger next season.
-The Walking Dead returns tomorrow....Set your DVRs accordingly (or watch LIVE). braaaaaaaaaaaaains.
-AMC is also unleashing Comic Book Men tomorrow after The Walking Dead....to say I think it'll be a surefire hit is probably an understatement. Check it out!
-New Sharlto Copley sighting!
-Here's a preview of some of the weird side of The Hunger Games.
-I'm pretty sure this is going to be my favorite new show next year...Jason Katims can do no wrong!
Superhero Musings: ‘The Death and Return of Superman’
Max Landis, the guy responsible for writing last week's superpower-inspired movie Chronicle released this pretty hilarious short that gives a little bit of perspective about the death and subsequent return of Superman in the comics....He makes some pretty valid points, though it is laced with profanity. Consider yourself warned...Enjoy!

TV Musings: Thursday Night Lineup
A lone entry on tonight's lineup...I remember the days when Thursdays were the big TV night. Seems things have shifted quite a bit in the last few years.
The Big Bang Theory- 'The Vacation Solution' (CBS, 7pm) | Sheldon is going to be forced to take his vacation days and spend time with Amy....Potential hilarity should ensue. I'll try to keep my bar low, because it seems like every time I get hyped up for something awesome on BBT, it doesn't deliver on the funny. This season has been pretty much on fire, so I don't have much doubt that this should continue.
Not much else going on until Sunday after today....Really stoked for the return of The Walking Dead this weekend, not to mention the launch of Comic Book Men on AMC. Going to need some new material to fill the loss of football on Sundays for the coming months....Already missing the NFL!
TV Musings: Wednesday Night Lineup
Looking for the high-quality shows you should be watching tonight? Each weekday (and Sunday), I'll post a look at the night's lineup according to my viewing schedule. I like to think I know how to pick the best shows on TV nowadays, so consider it your "Must-See TV" list if you're looking for some good TV shows.
Face Off- 'Dangerous Beauty' (SyFy, 9pm) | Contestants are going to be asked to design creatures that are beautiful but dangerous...Each week, I've been more intrigued by the talent on display here. I particularly look forward to what Rayce desins each week because, let's face it, he's in a league of his own after the ice-phobia creature he designed. I just got into this show from a friend's request this season, and I'm wishing I'd been around for Season 1. It's still a little hokey at times because it's a newer reality show, but it's top-notch as far as the creations the contestants design each week.
Top Chef: Texas- 'Mentors' (Bravo, 9pm) | In their best attempt at an 'Exile Island' from Survivor, one chef will return tonight after a secreat "Last Chance Kitchen" that's been going on all season. I'm not a fan of it, mainly because it's all been a ploy to get viewers to go to their website. After that, it sounds like tonight's episode will force chefs to pick out ingredients for a dish based on smell, while blindfolded. An intriguing twist...not to mention the title, which implies there may be a visit from family members or former inspirations for their cooking. This one is always a solid reality staple...At least until Survivor returns next week.
Since this is my inaugural post, I'll also mention that I'll be catching up on Justified, and New Girl from yesterday...Another couple of surefire hits to add to your lineups.
Trailer Musings: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Full Trailer
Sony waited just one day after the barrage of trailers during the Super Bowl to unleash the next full trailer for this summers The Amazing Spider-Man, and it's everything I expected and more after the set-up from the teaser a few months back. Hit the jump and take a look!
